Harrogate Town's search for new investors is awaiting approval from the Independent Football Regulator. Chairman Irving Weaver issued an update on the process, which he described as lengthy and detailed.
Weaver confirmed the approval process is currently ongoing with the regulator, a body established to ensure the financial stability of English football. "We do look forward to being able to share more details on this subject in the near future, at the conclusion of a lengthy and detailed approval process which is currently ongoing with the Independent Football Regulator," he said.
Club leadership changes
The update comes after a period of change in the club's executive structure. Sarah Barry, the former chief executive, has departed. Karen Tyson was subsequently appointed as the club's managing director.
Weaver also addressed the club's on-field ambitions, which remain focused on a swift return to the English Football League. The men's first team has made a promising start to the National League season, sitting second in the table with 16 points from seven games. They are just one point behind leaders Boreham Wood.
"As a group we remain fully committed to giving everything we have to return the club to the EFL as quickly as we possibly can," Weaver stated.
Strong start to the season
That commitment is being matched by performances. The team has scored 18 goals and conceded 10, building a positive goal difference of eight. Their recent form shows three wins, one draw, and one loss from the last five matches, including a convincing 3-1 home victory over Tamworth last Saturday. Goals from Ben Hobson, Will McGowan, and Jaheim Hmami secured the three points at Wetherby Road.

Manager Simon Weaver, the chairman's son, will now prepare his team for another significant test. They host third-placed AFC Fylde this Tuesday, a match that could have major implications for the early season title race. The club has asked supporters to continue their backing at Wetherby Road as the team builds on this strong start.
