Harrogate Town produced a stirring second-half comeback to salvage a 2-2 draw away to Forest Green Rovers. Simon Weaver's side overturned a two-goal deficit with goals from Lewis Payne and Ellis Taylor inside five minutes.
The point maintains Harrogate's strong position in the National League, where they sit second with 31 points from 15 games, having recorded ten wins, one draw and four losses. They remain 10 points behind leaders Boreham Wood but have shown resilience after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Carlisle just days earlier. Their recent form over the last five games stands at two wins, two draws and one loss. This form provides a solid platform ahead of their next fixture, a home game against seventh-placed Altrincham on Saturday 14 November.
Forest Green had taken a commanding lead with goals from Neil Kengni, who scored in the 7th minute, and Kyle Kelly, who added a second in first-half stoppage time. Tate Campbell also hit the post for the hosts, who looked in complete control at the break.
Harrogate's response after the interval was immediate. Payne pounced to pull a goal back in the 52nd minute, and Taylor fired home an equaliser just five minutes later, set up by Josh Hmami. Taylor later missed a clear chance to win it, heading straight at goalkeeper Luke McNicholas.
Forest Green boss Jonathan Gould described the result as two points dropped. "Two super goals, and then we just dropped off for seven, eight minutes in the second half," he said.
Harrogate manager Simon Weaver praised his team's character in fighting back. He said his side 'picked themselves back up and grabbed the game right from kick-off at the start of the second half. The mentality was superb. After the Carlisle result, people might have expected a collapse here, but we showed our true spirit. The substitutes made a real impact, and the energy from the travelling fans drove us on. It feels like a point gained given the circumstances.'
The Sulphurites now turn their attention to a home fixture against Altrincham. The team has scored 32 goals this season while conceding 21, giving them a goal difference of plus 11.
