Harrogate Town secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Sutton United at Wetherby Road on Saturday, extending their winning streak to five consecutive National League games. Three first-half goals in a blistering six-minute spell established a decisive lead that was never threatened.
Bailey Hobson opened the scoring in the 30th minute, finishing an assist from George Thomson. Josh Hmami doubled the advantage just two minutes later with a tap-in, before Thomson himself completed the flurry by netting the third goal in the 35th minute. The win solidifies Harrogate Town's position in the automatic promotion places, as they sit second in the standings with 28 points from 13 matches.
Simon Weaver's side were in complete control before the interval, with Sutton United unable to muster a response until the 75th minute. Substitute Ben Brookes headed in a consolation goal for the visitors, assisted by Sam Folarin, to break the clean sheet. The Sulphurites saw out the remaining minutes comfortably, with Thomson and Sutton's Taylor picking up late yellow cards.
The result maintains a seven-point gap to league leaders Boreham Wood and puts Harrogate three points clear of third-placed Southend United. Their recent form of four wins and a draw from the last five games shows their consistency in the title race. Attention now turns to a midweek trip to Brunton Park, where Harrogate Town face Carlisle United on Wednesday night. Carlisle currently occupy 14th place in the table.
