Ellis Taylor’s first-half goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 away win for Harrogate Town against Woking on Saturday. The victory maintains the club's second-place position in the National League, now on 28 points from 13 games, and extends their current winning run to four matches.

Taylor struck the decisive blow in the 32nd minute, collecting the ball on the left flank before driving inside and smashing a powerful finish into the roof of the net. It was the midfielder's first effort on target, having seen an earlier long-range attempt saved by Woking goalkeeper Will Jääskeläinen.

Woking had started the match with more possession and early pressure, but Harrogate grew into the contest. Grant Horton headed a free-kick over the bar, while Will McGowan and John Marquis also forced saves from the home keeper. At the other end, Harrogate goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson was called into action several times to preserve the lead, comfortably saving efforts from Aiden O’Brien and Timmy Akinola.

Defensive stand

Harrogate’s defence held firm under late pressure as Woking pushed for an equaliser. Sam Dreyer sent a powerful header just over the bar in the closing stages, and Taylan Harris miscued a headed chance in injury time, but the visitors saw the game out to claim all three points.

The result leaves Harrogate Town firmly in the automatic promotion places, seven points behind leaders Boreham Wood. The squad's current form and detailed stats are also available.
